Welcome to the sixth edition of “Who to Rep,” our ongoing series in which we recommend a player to rep for the upcoming week. Our selection process is rigorously unscientific, but we hope you like it anyway.
Another week, another heartbreaker one-possession loss for San Francisco. It stings in the moment, but the upshot is that this team is better than its record. Four out of five games so far, they’ve been just one play off from getting the win.
Part of the reason for that has been yet another bounce-back year from savvy veteran linebacker NaVorro Bowman. Bowman’s lost two separate seasons to would-be career ending injuries, but his drive, grit, and determination always see him back to the field… and back to work.
Against the Colts this Sunday, Bowman led the team in tackles (10) despite a reduced snap count. Bowman wasn’t thrilled about that snap count—done to protect him from his latest injury/his own toughness—but he didn’t let his frustration impact his game.
Bowman will likely see something closer to his usual snap count as San Francisco takes on a very dangerous Washington team, and it’ll be Bowman’s veteran savvy the Niners rely on to counter Kirk Cousins’ passing attack.
Rep Bowman this week out of solidarity for the old warhorse. He’s still a star when he’s on the field, and so competitive that he chafes when he’s off it. He’s earned the respect and support of the Niner faithful a thousand times over, and now’s as good a time as any to show it
